In a world where the natural environment is facing unprecedented change and potential disaster from the impact of global warming and other human interventions, the Council has actively lent its weight to a pioneering philanthropic conservation initiative, in the form of the Cyprus Environment Foundation (CEF), whose aim is to protect and enhance the natural beauty, biodiversity and ecosystems of Cyprus.
Our Board resolved to support this very worthwhile cause with great enthusiasm and has proceeded to organise, jointly with CEF and its umbrella organisation, the “Conservation Collective”, a very successful launch and fund-raising and awareness event at the Cyprus High Commission in London in May 2022. Our collaboration with CEF has been placed on a permanent footing through the Council’s representation on CEF’s Steering Committee and remains a major UKCEC strategic priority.
