I was thrilled to be in Nicosia yesterday, 21st September, on my actual birthday, to launch the Cyprus Environment Foundation, together with Ben Goldsmith, Chairman of the Conservation Collective and my co-founder, Sofia Matsi, CEF Executive Director on the island, Miria Kyprianou, member of the Steering Committee, and many other distinguished guests. A superb birthday present for me!
The event, held under the auspices of the President of the Republic, was addressed by our guests of honour, Cyprus Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, George Papanastasiou, and the Cyprus Commissioner for the Environment, Dr Maria Panayiodou and was sponsored by my good friend and co-director of the Council, Andreas Kyriacou. Several of the projects supported by the Foundation, were showcased during the presentations. The CEF team then organised a touching birthday dinner for me at Beba restaurant which I loved. Onwards and upwards for this marvelous initiative. Peter Droussiotis, Chairman of UKCEC and of CEF.
